Performance is achieved, among other things, by the fact that data and apps are usually stored exclusively in the cloud and only use valuable local storage when absolutely necessary. This keeps the system free of data fragments, so that Windows continues to run just as well after months as it did on the first day. In addition, the operating system only allows the use of apps from the Windows App Store. Since these applications are certified by Microsoft and tailored to Windows systems, the system runs much faster. In addition to the fully integrated Microsoft Edge browser, the usable applications also include the Microsoft Office applications available via the Windows App Store.

The linear orientation of Windows 10 S brings with it another advantage that is particularly interesting for educational institutions and companies. The fact that users can only install programs and apps certified and approved by Microsoft massively increases the security of the system and the data on it. This applies to data security in both companies and educational institutions, especially as no unwanted malware ends up on the systems. Thanks to the automatic installation of hardware drivers via Windows Updates, it is also guaranteed that the driver software works perfectly with the system and does not slow it down. The operating system, which has been optimized for teaching, among other things, is supplemented by Microsoft Intune. This is an extensive rights management system that can be used, for example, to enable and block the webcam and access to certain apps.
